Global sounds from the net: Our greatest discoveries in one Playlist
Dantec – Okaia (Techno, Melodic Techno & House)
Dantec became a producer at the age of 14. His long hours spent in the studio have paid off, his tunes aired on the German radio, and he is collaborating with international artists. Dantec has just been to China, and it seems his travels and inspirations are digging their way into his creativity. Okaia, quite an atmospheric pearl, shows strong references to sound sources coming from different cultures and instruments such as e.g., the Australian didgeridoo. A go-getter, his curious and strong voice will take him to many new places.
Kamandi – Not Biting My Tongue (Melodic Techno & House, Lo-fi House, Downtempo / Minimal Electronic)
Kamandi was born in Australia but raised in New Zealand. Not Biting My Tongue makes you want to move on and look forward, with bravery, guts, and glory. A vast conglomeration of sounds that come together smooth and harmonically, it's a pleasure getting lost in it.
Kamandi also produced the track "High" for Azizi Gibson, which is featured in the TV show 'Top Boy' on Netflix.
Moguai – ACIID (Remix by Kryder x Benny Benassi) (EDM)
A first release of this track came out in 2014. After Kryder & Benny Benassi got their hands on it, ACIID, is now quite the club banger, especially if you enjoy a bit of an old school vibe. As one of the first big DJs in Germany, Moguai has shared a platform with artists such as Westbam and Sven Väth. He also produces mainstream acts such as the Sugababes or 2Raumwohnung, which earned him multiple awards.
Bugle Boy – Tetla (Techno, Tech House)
Andrew Landry (AKA Bugle Boy) spent most of his youth traveling with his parents. They were missionaries in Mexico and Russia. He had a very transient, surreal childhood. His music is decidedly dark but leans into tribal, syncopated percussive elements that give his tracks a sense of movement and rhythm. Reminiscent of the good old UR days. Tetla is like getting lost in a dystopian Sci-fi. A dead planet where robots have taken over, and you are the last human kind waiting to board an old school rocket that takes you into space with no return ticket in your pockets.
Mephisto Odyssey – Never Heard This Featuring Kool Keith (DJ Edit) (Trap, EDM, Drum & Bass)
Mephisto Odyssey is an American house music group from San Francisco, California, who has been credited with helping to pioneer the San Francisco house music Sound. Another tune reminiscent of the funky old school days feat. Legendary rapper Kool Keith. Smashing!
Dreckïg – A good Human Animal (Techno, Industrial)
If you like it dark and real, this industrial flower is hand-picked just for you. Industrial Techno made for escapism and catharsis. Expect Distorted Synth, Clanging metal, Knocking Kick Drums, Modular aggression, and twisted percussion.
dj poolboi – A Long Way From Home (Lo-fi House, House (Old-school), Deep House)
Dj poolboi is the moniker of Austin Texas’ resident Adam Ansley. In 2017 Ansley started quietly releasing lo-fi house music as an artistic outlet on Youtube. Channeling his own struggles, Ansley crafted a unique form of EDM - "electronic depression music," creating emotional melodic songs mixing elation and nostalgia with melancholy. Residing in the same vein as contemporaries Ross From Friends, DJ Boring, Mall Grab, Park Hye Jin and Dj Seinfeld while building on the experimental dance music of trailblazers such as Radiohead, Four Tet, Caribou and Jamie XX his music found its own niche and began to take flight online.
Dj poolboi now gears up to release his debut LP with renowned Berlin-based label Majestic Casual in early 2020.
Audio Dope – Absence of Gravity (Downtempo / Minimal Electronic)
The Basel based producer Audio Dope began his musical voyage crafting old-fashioned beats inspired by late 90’s hip-hop tracks. Subsequently discovering his passion for wider instrumentals, he carved out a unique artistic vision, genre-hopping between trip-hop, down-tempo, electronica, and lo-fi hip-hop. Absence Of Gravity is soul-soothing music and food for thought on a cozy dance in your own space and time. Incredibly talented artist to look out for.
Wandour – September in London (Future / UK Garage, Downtempo / Minimal Electronic, Deep House)
This very cinematic tune is inspired by urban facades and industrial night lights. Wandour aims to use sounds to awaken listeners’ subconscious while hypnotizing their societal identities. His music is the combination of conflicting elements of melancholia, bitterness, nostalgia, along with mixing styles of dark techno, broken beats, melodic dubstep baseline, and distorted atmospheric melodies. Another perfect Dream to get lost in on your dancefloor of choice.
Leandro Fresco & Rafael Anron Irisarri – Elevado Como Barrilete (Downtempo / Minimal Electronic, The Sight Below, Pop Ambient)
Irisarri’s works are widely published on influential labels like Ghostly (USA), Morr Music (DE), Room40 (AU), and Umor Rex (MX), among dozen others. His recorded output heavily utilized bowed guitars, piano, strings, synths, field recordings, voices, and electronic instruments, creating dense clouds of blurry, hypnotic sound.
A native of Buenos Aries, Fresco's activity ranges from electronic music to commercial pop, having collaborated with Shakira, Spanish artist Gustavo Cerati, as well as Michael Mayer, Dave Dk, The Orb, and Argentine DJ Hernán Cattaneo. His 2015 album The Invisible Kingdom was released by Kompakt Records, and he's a regular in their Pop Ambient series as well. The ultimate track to get lost in time and space.
