Lars Bygdén – One Last Time for Love

Am 28. Januar veröffentlicht der schwedische Songwriter Lars Bygdén sein neues Album „One Last Time for Love“. Das Vorgängeralbum „Dark Companion“ war ein musikalischer Abschied von seiner Frau, die 2017 an Krebs starb. „One Last Time for Love“ setzt thematisch dort an, wo „Dark Companion“ aufgehört hat. Für Lars Bygdén ist das Album eine posttraumatische Aufarbeitung der Trauer.

Zu seinem neuen Video erzählt er: „We’ll the idea behind the video is that there really wasn’t much of an idea to begin with. It started out as an assignment on a animation course I was taking, and from that it developed into a few short scenes which I tried to some of the songs on the album and when I got to One last time for love, it was a perfect match.“

Lars Bygdén gehört zu den einflussreichsten Singer/Songwritern Schwedens. Zu seinem neuen Album sagt er:  „The album picks up where my previous album ‚Dark Companion‘ ended. After the funeral of my wife. When relatives and friends finally have returned to their normal lives after joining their forces around me and my children’s grief. When you sit there alone on the sofa and try to understand what happened.”

„It is about grief and infinite loss, but also about the liberation that death can mean, both for the one who’s sick but also for the survivors. It’s about how we need the darkness to be able to see the light and vice versa. For me, it is also about the apocalyptic times we live in and about the last war that’s coming or maybe is already here?”

Das düstere Meisterwerk „Dark Companion“ aus 2018 ist von der Presse hochgelobt worden. „More gripping than all other records this year“, schrieb Nöjesguiden. “There is nothing here that can be peeled off, there is nothing here that feels unnecessary; all components are almost perfect“, tönte es aus dem Hause Gaffa.

Lars Bygdén glaubt, dass sich das neue Album wärmer und vielleicht glänzender anfühlt als das vorherige. “The music for the Astrid Lindgren film The Brothers Lionheart is a reference I have had for a long time but it was well suited to use here considering what the album is about”, erzählt Bygdén.

“I felt that with the last record we did something I am very proud of so I wanted to develop it further with the same band”, führt er fort.
